This antique desk thermometer was made by the Rochester Manufacturing Company, of New York, which was founded in 1913, and was the first company to develop a liquid level temperature gauge.
It sports the sweetest, painted cast metal Scottish Terrier dog, poised to appear as though he is checking the temperature.
The entire piece measures 3″ tall x 5″ long x 2 3/4″ wide. The perfect size to be displayed on a desktop.
It has some small areas of missing paint, and we believe that there was once a thin clear plastic covering over the face of the thermometer, that is no longer there.
It still works, and it is as charming as ever.
