Definition:Lefton

The Lefton company was founded by George Zoltan Lefton in Chicago after WWII. While the company was American, the pottery was largely produced in Japan. Lefton “Exclusives” are known for their incredible variety and affordability. They often specialized in “Anthropomorphic” dogs (dogs doing human things) or very realistic breed studies. Collectors look for the red and gold foil labels or the stamped “Lefton” name with a model number. They are a fantastic way to collect rare breeds that weren’t often made by the more expensive European houses.
