Dahl Jensen – I See You!
by Donna
Those of us who are avid collectors of antique and vintage dogs, do it for a variety of reasons. But Dahl Jensen dog collectibles are special. Think about this…
When was the last time you looked at a porcelain dog figurine… and it looked back at you?

by Dahl Jensen
Dahl-Jensen porcelain canine figurines do just that. Each dog of every breed that has come out of the Dahl-Jensen factory is easily identified by the distinct and intimate expression on its face. They range from tender to quizzical to occasionally comic. Their muted coloring gives them a softness that invites you to touch them. Whatever you may be feeling at any time, they seem to get it.

They are not an inexpensive collection to start, but their appeal is extraordinary. Here are some of the Dahl-Jensen dogs in the shop or have passed through our shop en-route to new homes.
Collecting Dahl Jensen
Just a note for the new collectors out there, and for those interested in Dahl-Jensen dogs:Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen (1874-1960), was a Danish sculptor, living in Copenhagen. He started first sculpting in wood, and then moved to porcelain, where one of his first jobs was his work from 1897-1917, as a model master for the porcelain factory of Bing & Grondahl.
In 1925, he started his own business, also in Copenhagen. Many of his works were exported to the US, where he was especially known for his animal figurines. It became a family affair with his wife, Martha, and his son, Georg, working to produce fine porcelain figurines. Production was continued until 1981.
