This is a rare piece of Weller Art Pottery in the Knifewood pattern line, depicting a Yellow Labrador Retriever or other similar hunting dog in the woods. Weller Pottery began production in 1872, in Fultonham, Ohio and was owned by Samuel A. Weller. By 1915, Weller Pottery was the world’s largest art pottery. Knifewood was a pattern line introduced just after WWI by Rudolph Lorber. The pottery closed in 1948 mainly due to the Great Depression and the cheap Japanese imports that were flooding the market. This wonderful planter cup measures 3 1/8″ tall x 3 1/8″ in diameter. It is excellent condition. If you are a collector of Weller Art Pottery you won’t want to miss adding this beautiful piece to your collection. If you are passionate about all things “dog”, just imagine all the wonderful ways you can display and re-purpose it on a desk, dressing table or even in your kitchen!
