This vintage pottery birdhouse is so unique and so full of character! We know that he dates from the early 1900’s, he is hand-painted and made of some form of pottery. He sits at 11″ tall x 11″ long x 4 1/2″ wide and weighs just over 4 lbs. He is in great condition with touches of minor paint loss. There is no evidence that he has ever actually been used as a birdhouse, even though he does have a metal loop on his back just below his neckline with a leather strap attached. He has a thick, red, scarf-like, painted collar and his best features are his big, sleepy eyes, his upside down smile, and of course, that distinctive curled Pug tail. He is unsurpassed as both a unique collectible, and as a decorative, folk art piece. We are so thrilled to have found him, and doubt that we will ever find another like him!
