This wonderful Folk Art Wooden Spool Holder is just as simple and as sweet as can be.

It was hand made and hand painted to function as an efficient way to manage the use of four spools of different colored thread.

It consists of a cut out wooden full-bodied Scottish Terrier dog, painted black, and a wooden rectangular base, painted a rich burgundy red.

A nail is placed on each corner, to keep the threads from tangling.

There is a signature on the base, partially worn. It could have been the maker’s signature, or perhaps the name of the person it was made for.

Measuring 6″ tall x 7″ long x 5″ wide, it is in excellent display condition, with some mild scratching and worn paint, that you would expect to see on a vintage item that was once put to use.

It is also, of course in excellent working condition, if you like to do your sewing in the good old-fashioned way!
