This exquisite Victorian baby food pusher is solid sterling silver. Created by Paye & Baker in the early 1900’s, it is beautifully embellished with the “Pond Lily” pattern. What makes it truly unique, however, is the wonderful dog on the front. The extraordinary detailing shows him straining excitedly on the chain that appears attached to his doghouse, as though he is anticipating the arrival of his best friend. To add to the story, “Bow Wow Wow” streams just over the top of the happy dog.

This interesting utensil was a popular addition to a Victorian table setting for a baby or toddler. Fingers weren’t allowed to be used as utensils in any proper Victorian home, so at an early age, children were taught to use such food pushers to move their food onto their forks or spoons.

This food pusher measures 4″ long x 2″ wide. It is in excellent condition, with only some very mild scratches commensurate with its age.

Please note that we also have the solid sterling, curved handle baby spoon by Paye & Baker, that also has the same dog in the bowl of the spoon. Our last picture shows how well they would go together to make the perfect baby gift.
