Vintage Hand Carved Wood Scottie Head Letter Opener

This vintage wood letter opener features a hand-carved head of a Scottie dog. It has beautiful detailing, showing fur lines, eye, nose and ears. The blade is curved and worn smooth by time and use. It has a wonderful warm patina and shows off a beautiful wood grain. Based on the look of this piece, we believe that it could have been made as early as the 1930’s. The back has some minor scratching and what appears to be a signature. It is in great vintage condition with what appears to be a slight sliver off of the edge of the bottom left side of the blade, close to the tip. It does not detract in any significant way from the piece. Although, we don’t use letter openers much anymore, this dog would make a wonderful addition to any desktop, to be used, or as a decorative piece, or even re-purposed as an elegant bookmark.
