This exquisite, elephant figurine not only has her trunk up, she has her mouth open into what almost looks to be a joyous expression.
Created between 1900-1934 in the Pfeffer Porcelain Factory, Gotha, Thuringia, Germany, she is highly-detailed, and so charming.
Because Pfeffer Porcelain animals were rarely, if ever signed by the artist, this sweet elephant could have been originally designed by Fritz Pfeffer (1857-1922), or by his son Max , who drove the factory into bankruptcy in 1934, or even by Fritz’s wife, Ilse, who reopened it soon after, and kept it running until 1942.
It measures a full 4 1/2″ tall x 6 1/4″ long x 2″ wide, and this figurine is in excellent, ready-to-display condition.
