This unique and wonderful sporting dogs sugar shaker was made by Reed & Barton Company of Taunton, Massachusetts c.1860’s. It features a gorgeous floral border along its lower quarter, that also includes two distinctly different portraits of sporting dogs. One dog appears to be  either a retriever, or a setter, and the other dog looks to be either a boxer, or a staffordshire terrier. Both portraits are extraordinarily detailed, and show off the dogs to perfection.

It has a removable lid that has a finely wrought basketweave design along its edge. It also has a graceful handle that distinguishes it from most commonly seen sugar castors.

Measuring 5″ tall with a base diameter of 2 1/2″, it is in excellent condition, with one very small “ding” on its body.

It is an extraordinary, decorative piece for any dog enthusiast, or lover of fine, antique silverplate hollowware.
