This is not your standard Mortens Studio miniature. This impressive English Bulldog is a confirmed early production “Royal Design” model from the 1930s Chicago studio.

Considered by collectors as a “Master Model”, it features the rare, round “Copyright by the Mortens Studio” belly sticker used only during the earliest years of production. It also retains the original oval gold foil “Royal Design” label, a mark of premium quality reserved for the studio’s largest and most detailed sculptures.

Weighing just over 1 lb, this piece was crafted using Oscar Morten’s signature technique of molding ceramic/plaster over a heavy metal and wire skeleton.

Measuring a full 5″ tall x 7″ long x 2 3/4″ wide, this fabulous Bulldog is in excellent, ready-to-display condition.

The hand-painted detailing captures the soulful, dignified expression and sturdy stance that completely characterizes this wonderful breed, and made Morten a gold-medal-winning sculptor.

This specific Bulldog’s weight and size mark it as a collector’s piece,  intended as a centerpiece for a serious collection.
