This wonderful, standing Boston Terrier figurine looks alert and ready to go after what he has fixed his gaze on.
The designer of this Boston Terrier figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models.
Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
Measuring a full 5 1/2″ tall x 7″ long x 2 1/4″ wide, he has a chip on the back of one leg, and a rough spot at the top of one ear. Otherwise, he is in excellent, ready-to-display condition.
Please note that we currently have a matching, seated Mortens Studio Boston Terrier figurine in stock.
