Who doesn’t love a Boxer dog? This adorable character, designed by Mortens Studio in the 1930’s-1940’s, shows this Boxer’s characteristic “sprawl” to perfection!
Measuring 2 1/2″ tall x 5 1/2″ long x 2″ wide, he is so sweet and realistic-looking, that you can’t help but wonder just what antic he is contemplating!
He is in excellent condition. Any tiny light spots you might see in the pictures are only the result of the camera.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next two decades, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples, like this one, in perfect condition.
This Boxer dog is also the perfect desktop “friend”, guaranteed to make you smile!
He would also make a wonderful gift to any Boxer lover, but we caution you that once you see him, he will be quite difficult to give away!
