The undisputed “King of Terriers”, and favorite dog of Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, and Calvin Coolidge, this family of four Airedales was designed by Mortens Studios.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
Finding a family group of Mortens Studio dogs is wonderful in itself, but finding these four delightful Airedale dogs in near mint condition is extraordinary.
Included in the group is an adult male Airedale measuring a full 5″ tall x 6 1/2″ long x 2 1/4″ wide. He is in excellent condition with two tiny chips on the bottom edge of two paws, that can only be seen if you turn the dog over.
The seated adult female is 4″ tall x 4″ long x 3″ wide and she is in excellent, flawless condition.
There are two puppies, each one measuring 3″ tall x 4″ long x 2 1/2″ wide. Both Airedale puppies are in excellent condition.
This is a fabulous opportunity to add a family group of antique Mortens Studio dogs to your collection, or give an extraordinary gift to your favorite Airedale lover
