This wonderful English Bulldog by Mortens Studio has a “red” coloring, which looks actually like a deep caramel brown.

At 4 1/2″ tall x 6″ long x 3″ wide, she has a distinctively dignified look, certainly not very feminine!

The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models.

Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.

This beauty is in excellent, flawless condition, with a high gloss finish, and deep black accents.

As one of Mortens Studios’ larger, and quite heavy figurines, she is considered an early Mortens piece, and quite collectible.

Certainly the perfect Bulldog figurine, for any Bulldog enthusiast, and a rare find for any collector of Mortens Studio dog figurines, this antique English Bulldog is pure perfection.
