This whimsical Jack Russell dog, is seated and holds a bone in his mouth.
He was issued by Royal Doulton between 1937 – 1985 as part of the “Dogs of Character” series, which was a series of 12 dogs, modeled in various poses, and believed to be inspired by the works of Cecil Aldin, a popular British artist and illustrator.
This wonderful pup has a perfect high gloss finish, and bears the green Royal Doulton backstamp and the mold # H.N.1159.This backstamp, which is in the shape of an arc with a flat base, distinguishes it as one of the dogs produced early in the series.
He is in excellent condition and sits 3 3/4″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 1 1/2″ wide.
