This striking, original portrait of a pair of Doberman dogs is so realistic.
It is the work of Louise Shattuck (1881-2005.) Louise Shattuck was a teacher, artist, writer and a breeder of English Cocker Spaniels. She lived most of her life in Lake Pleasant, Massachusetts. She was a well-known animal artist, with dogs being by far, her favorite subject.
This original pastel is artist-signed, and measures a full 22″ tall x 22″ wide, including the frame. The portrait is framed under glass, and it is in mint condition. The lower part of the portrait looks faded in the pictures, but that is only a reflection on the glass, captured by the camera. The frame is in great condition with only the expected minor wear.
This vintage, original dog portrait has a “commanding” presence. Whether it is due to these majestic-looking dogs, themselves, the talent of this popular artist, or both, we will let you be the judge.
