Antique Sporting Dog Tin Lithograph Tip Tray
circa 1905
This unique and wonderful tin lithograph tip tray features a beautiful Liewellin Setter dog. This dog was the National Bird Dog Champion in 1898, and his name (as seen on this tray) was “Tony’s Gale.”
Measuring 5″ x 3 1/2″, the extraordinary detailing of both the dog and the background scenes that surround him is much more than you would expect to see on an item this size. It’s fluted edges at all four corners add even more elegance to this tip tray. It is a real jewel, and a collector’s dream.
Take a good look and you will see that the backgrounds that frame this gorgeous dog are a marsh and woodlands, both of which this dog would have experienced during the fall hunting season.
This antique tip tray is in excellent condition, with the only wear showing on the back.
It would look beautiful displayed on a small desktop easel frame. It would also make an extraordinary piece to add your sporting dog collection.
However, if you are feeling “in the holiday spirit”, it would certainly make a unique and fabulous gift to any sporting dog enthusiast.
