This hard-to-find black Cocker Spaniel puppy figurine was created by Mortens Studio in the 1930’s – 1940’s.
Sitting 3″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 1 3/4″ wide, she is so sweet and realistic-looking, displaying her gentle and affectionate nature.
She is in great condition, with just a few tiny chips to her tail, and a very tiny chip on her head and back.
Please note that many of the larger “white spots” that show in the pictures are the result of the camera lighting. The very tiny chips show just as they are…tiny.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next two decades, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
This Cocker Spaniel is also the perfect desktop “friend”, guaranteed to make you smile!
She would also make a wonderful gift to any Cocker Spaniel lover, but we caution you that once you see her, she will be quite difficult to give away!
