One of the “hard-to-find” Mortens Studio dog figurines, this sweet Brittany Spaniel dog is in extraordinary condition!
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
A “must-have” for any collector of Mortens Studio dogs, and a unique and beautiful gift for any dog lover, this standing Brittany Spaniel dog stands 4 3/4″ tall x 5 1/2″ long x 2″ wide.
She is clearly marked on her underside.
