Mention Marguerite Kirmse Original Etching Signed Artist’s Proof Borzois c.1929 plus the item number ART-2230

This original etching by Marguerite Kirmse (1885-1954), is of a pair of exquisite Borzois, entitled “Aristocrats.” It was first published in 1929.

The fact that this is not only an original etching, it is also a signed artist’s proof.

What makes an artist’s proof even more collectible and valuable, is that it is an early print from the plate that the artist, in this case, Marguerite Kirmse would keep for her own records.

It was kept as proof that she had verified that she was happy with the plate. Artist’s proofs, such as this elegant portrait of a pair of Borzois, are of the highest quality.

Most artist’s proofs would only be sold after the death of the artist, in order to clear the files. In addition, as in this etching, the plate has been destroyed (see label on the back.)

This wonderful artwork is framed under glass, measuring 15″ tall x 11 1/2″ wide.

The etching is in excellent condition.

It is still in its original wood frame, which shows expected wear, but also adds to the authenticity of this piece.

It is one of the harder-to-find of Kirmse’s dog studies, and it would make an amazing addition to any Kirmse or Borzoi collection.
