Kenart was originally know as Kenworthy Jewelers of Stalybridge & Ashton from 1901 to 1921. It was owned and operated by James Kenworthy. Upon his death at the age of 54 in 1921, his wife and son took over the business using the name Kenart.  In the 1930s James’ son Thomas took control of the business and made it famous for his series of animal pins, mostly dogs. The company produced pins modelling over fifty breeds. The company was dissolved in 2003.
