This “Mom and Pop” pair of dog figurines, made in “Occupied Japan” absolutely exude personality and charm.
They are two of the many items made in Japan, specifically for export between 1945 – 1952.
Their red “Made in Occupied Japan” marks, tell us that they were created during the first half of that period of time, making them older pieces, and the most collectible.
With his bright green cap cocked over one ear, and a small black pipe in his mouth, you could almost mistake “Pop” for a canine “Sherlock Holmes.”
“Mom” looks more like a traditional wife, mother or grandmother with her bright blue scarf tied around her head, with the bow nestled in the middle, between her ears.
Each one sits 3″ tall x 2 3/4″ long x 2 1/2″ wide, and both are in excellent condition.
This charming pair will certainly be a great addition to an “Occupied Japan” collection. However, if they remind you of a wonderful “couple” you know…they just might make a very unique and fabulous holiday gift!
