Vintage Reinhold H. Palenske “Steady Boys” Etching of Sporting Dogs c.1940’s

This perfect print is of an artist-signed etching was done by Reinhold H. Palenske (1884-1954), and entitled “Steady Boys.” It shows, in extraordinary detail, both an English Setter, and a Pointer dog, poised and ready for a command from their huntsman owner. Palenske was both a graphic artist and a painter, born in Chicago. His great love for the outdoors, and the sporting life shows up in his many exquisite renderings of both hunting dogs and horses. His works are displayed in the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, and the Royal Gallery of London, England.
This particular print was produced by Brown & Bigelow during the 1940’s. It is matted and framed under glass, and it is in excellent condition. The frame is oak, stained a deep brown. It is in great condition, with only a minor chip to the top left corner. It is 16 3/4″ tall x 13 3/4″ wide, including the frame.
