An exceptional and charismatic pair of antique cast metal Cavalier King Charles Spaniel sculptures, finished in a rich antique bronze patina circa early 1900s.
Originally cast to be mounted, these dogs feature hollowed undersides and beautifully sculpted, downward-curved front paws that allow them to function as whimsical “shelf sitters” or edge-of-table bookends, resting securely with their front legs draped naturally over a mantel, library shelf, or stack of leather-bound books.
Each spaniel is cast in a regal reclining pose with flowing feathering, long pendulous ears, and attentive faces. Measuring 4 1/4″ tall by 6 1/2″ long by 2 1/2″ wide, both figures are in very good antique condition with warm surface patination, no structural breaks, and authentic casting holes on the underside.
A clever, aristocratic accent for any dog lover’s library, study, or mantelpiece.
