This German Short-Haired Pointer dog, a rambunctious, sporting dog, much admired for its abilities on both land and in the water is the subject of this fabulous figurine.
It was designed by Mortens Studios of England. The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
This exquisite Pointer dog, however, is in outstanding condition (see pictures.) He is also quite rare because of his dark tail, which is very difficult to find, and a collector’s dream.
He measures a full 6 1/2″ tall x 11″ long x 4″ wide.
If you are a collector of Mortens Studio dogs, please take a good look at this gorgeous example of this amazing breed.
If you are a sporting dog lover, this Pointer dog figurine would certainly be a wonderful addition to your home or office.
