Rare 1934 Limited Edition Borzoi Portfolio: 28 Lithographs, “Echoes of Old Russia”

The portfolio contains a full set of 28 large-scale lithographs (17.5” x 11.75”), reproduced from the 1870s life sketches of N.A. Martynow. These original drawings were commissioned to document the prize-winning hounds exhibited by the Imperial Society of the Royal Court of Russia under the patronage of the Romanovs. This specific copy is a rare, unnumbered “Out-of-Series” or Publisher’s Copy, likely reserved for the original production team.

Accompanying the lithographs is the scholarly essay “Echoes of Old Russia” by Alexander Sushko, Ph.D., and a complete “Key to the Contents” identifying each dog by name and its noble owner.

The entire portfolio is in excellent condition. The lithographs are crisp with only minor age-toning to the edges. The original folder shows light wear commensurate with age, adding to its authentic character.
