Large Mortens Studio Wire-Haired Fox Terrier Dog c.1930’s-1960

This large, Wire-Haired Fox Terrier was designed by Mortens Studio of England. The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition. This handsome Wire-Haired Fox Terrier stands a full 5 1/2″ tall x 6 1/2″ long x 3″ wide. He is in good condition with some crazing and a small chip on the underside of his muzzle, that cannot be seen without turning him over. He is both large, and one of the more “hard-to-find” Morten Studio dogs, he will certainly be a fabulous addition to any collection and the perfect addition to the home of any Wire-Haired Fox Terrier owner, trainer or breeder!
