Oscar Morten immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in 1931 in Chicago. Over the next two decades, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautifully engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.

This wonderful Wire-Haired Fox Terrier measures 3″ tall x 1 1/2″ long x 1 1/2″ wide and he is in perfect condition.

This dog carries the Mortens Studio stamp and is, in fact, a flawless example of this designer’s art. Beautiful detailing and soft, subtle colors make this pup a treasure for collectors, or the perfect canine “friend” to grace your vanity, or desk.
