This gorgeous figurine of a Spaniel or Setter dog was created in the Zsolnay factory in Hungary. Its’ unique coloring, a mix of green blue and gold, was achieved by using eosin, which means “the light of the dawn” in Greek. Introduced in 1893, this process uses a glittering ceramic glaze to emphasize certain parts of the figurine with glimmer. This gives the piece an iridescent, metallic look, that has become the unique hallmark of Zsolnay porcelain, animal figurines.
This gorgeous dog sits at 4 3/4″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 2 1/4″ wide, and it is well-hallmarked and it is in excellent condition. If you are a Zsolnay collector, you will surely want to add this elegant dog to your collection. If you want to begin an extraordinary, eye-catching canine collection for yourself, or as a gift to another canine enthusiast…this dog is an excellent choice.
