This exquisite, vintage, porcelain dachshund will easily take hold of your heartstrings and not let go. It was designed by Theodor Madsen (1880-1965), a sculptor who apprenticed as a model maker at Royal Copenhagen, and then continued to work there as an independent artist, making designs of birds and animals from 1896-1935. This gentle-looking pup is believed to have been designed between 1923 and 1928. It is in excellent condition with a high gloss glaze and done in soft gray and flesh tones with touches of black and light blue in the eyes. With one ear tossed back, and its “chubby” body curled around, this Dachshund is a perfect representation of the charm and sweet playfulness so characteristic of the breed.
Vintage Royal Copenhagen Dachshund by Theodor Madsen circa 1923-1928
