Who doesn’t love a Boxer puppy dog?

This adorable character, designed by Mortens Studio in the 1930’s-1940’s, shows that Boxer “pudgy puppiness” to perfection!

Sitting 2 3/4″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 1 3/4″ wide, he is so sweet and realistic-looking, that you can’t help but wonder just what antic he is contemplating!

He is in great condition, with a very tiny chip on his side (see picture #4.) Any tiny white spots you might see in the pictures are only the result of the camera. He still has a portion of his original foil label on his back.

The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
