Vintage Expanda Intaglio Crystal Fox Terrier Dog Cufflinks c.1920
Two intaglios of very smart-looking Fox Terrier dogs adorn this pair of cufflinks. Made in England in the 1920’s, they also have a very interesting bit of history in their unique design.
Two intaglios of very smart-looking Fox Terrier dogs adorn this pair of cufflinks. Made in England in the 1920’s, they also have a very interesting bit of history in their unique design. They were called “Expanda” cufflinks. This meant that they have a tiny chain that is concealed inside the bottom piece, that pulls out and allows them to expand, so that they could be put on without having to take the two parts of the cufflink apart! This set is in good vintage condition. The front crystals are in great shape as are the portraits of the dogs. The background color of one does appear to be slightly lighter than the other. The back pieces show some surface scratching. The expanding chains on both operate perfectly as designed. A fun gift for a relative or friend who loves dogs, and/or cufflinks, and a great addition to any cufflink collection!
