This extraordinary piece is made of solid cast iron, hand-painted, and fitted with two brass insert cups. It depicts an elegantly formed, highly detailed, hunting hound, who is walking and sniffing between the two containers, that are themselves, highly detailed to show stalks of corn growing in a corn field. Although we cannot find any markings on this piece, it appears to be quite old and in excellent condition. The paint on the edge of one of the dog’s ears, is very slightly rubbed off, and the larger of the two brass cup inserts shows some corrosion on the inside, yet it will still function well. Neither of these faults detract from the absolute uniqueness and classic beauty of this piece. It stands at 5 1/2″ tall x 8″ long x 6″ wide. Used for its original purpose or re-purposed as an elegant desk piece to hold pens, stamps, etc…, this wonderful, figural work-of-art will add grace and elegance to any room in your home!
