This classic, clear crystal glass bookend is a wonderful collector’s piece for Scottish Terrier enthusiasts, as well as collectors of Moser glass. This heavyweight bookend was created by the Moser Glass Company for the National Cambridge Collectors. It was issued in 1940, and retired in 1955. It shows a perfect Scottish Terrier dog, sitting on a block with one ear up. The entire piece is glass, with the block-shaped base measuring 3″ x 5″, and the entire piece measuring 6.5″ tall. It is in excellent condition, can be seen pictured in different colors on the cover of “A Treasury of Scottie Dog Collectibles Volume lll” by Candace Davis and Patricia Baugh, as well as on page 49.
The clear glass and the weight of this piece makes it both an excellent decorative piece, that can go almost anywhere in your home, and a practical choice as well. Use it as a book end, a paperweight, or even as a doorstop. Place it near a floral arrangement, and it will pick up the colors of each season. However you chose to display and use it, it will most certainly become a favorite collectible canine in your home.
