This wonderful, vintage bronze figurine depicts a historic, well-known Newfoundland dog.

This gorgeous, bronze Newfoundland figurine, created by the internationally acclaimed California artist, Chris Baldwin in 1984, is named “Scannon.”

The history of this dog, as well as the history of his unusual name, deserve to be mentioned.

This fabulous Newfoundland, was thought to be the Newfoundland dog that accompanied Lewis & Clark on their expedition through the Pacific Northwest.

The dog’s real name was “Seaman.”

However, many years later when their travel journals were discovered, the ink, on the page where this dog’s name was mentioned, was blurred. So, from that point on, the dog was referred to as “Scannon.”

This exquisitely-detailed bronze figurine, shows off this dog and his inquisitive and playful nature.

Both the dog’s name, the artist’s signature, and the date (1984), are all inscribed on this magnificent bronze.

Measuring a full 10″ tall x 11″ long x 5″ wide, it is a very substantial piece, weighing 18+ pounds.

It is in excellent, ready-to-display condition.

For collectors, and Newfoundland dog enthusiasts alike, this particular “Newfie” is sure to be a favorite in your home and collection.
