This Mortens Studio Dachshund Head wall plaque is one of a series of 3 dimensional dog head studies produced during the 1950’s.

Measuring 5″ tall x 4″ long x 2 1/2″ deep, it has its original two labels, and the built-in “loop” hook, which makes it easy to hang alone, or as a wonderful addition to a canine art wall gallery.

This Dachshund’s soft eyes and gentle expression will make any owner of this amazing breed smile.

The designer of this Dachshund plaque, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.

This chocolate dachshund is in excellent condition, and displays beautifully from every angle.
