Karl Ens Keeshond Wolfsspitz Dog c. 1945
This hand-painted, porcelain Keeshond dog is truly a rare find.
Can we “Fetch” a classic Keeshond
or perhaps another new friend for your consideration?
Circa 1945
This hand-painted, porcelain Keeshond dog is truly a rare find.
Designed by Karl Ens and manufactured by the Volkstedt Porcelain Factory, he is in excellent condition.
If you are a collector of Ens dogs, you will know that this one is not often for sale. He is done in fabulous browns, from a very deep, dark chocolate, to a soft, warm caramel. His snowy white mane, plumed tail and paws are all in magnificent contrast to his thick, and highly detailed coat.
Please note that any white spots in these pictures are simply due to the camera flash off of his very high gloss finish.
Often referred to as the “Smiling Dutchman”, this wonderful breed is not a watchdog, but rather a quieter, bright, inquisitive and welcoming companion.
Karl Ens did a masterful job capturing these characteristics in this engaging, porcelain figurine.
If you are an owner of a Keeshond, then this dog is a “must-have.” If you are a collector of Karl Ens dogs, or, as we are, just simply captivated by this dog’s questioning look and gentle smile…you need to be the one to give him his next home.
