Mention Cocker Spaniel Plaque – Mortons Studio c.1940’s plus the item number CRM-2950B

This wonderful Cocker Spaniel dog plaque was designed and produced by Mortens Studio.

She has fabulous detailing, and elegant caramel and white coloring. What is really striking about this dog, is her incredibly beautiful face and soulful eyes, that truly capture what we love so much about this gentle and lovable breed.

The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next two decades, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.

Measuring 4″ tall x 3 3/4″wide x 1/2″ deep, she is part of Oscar Mortens 3-D Head Studies which originated in the early 1940’s and originally sold for $1.50.

This small but elegant gem has a smattering of tiny spots of missing paint. Nonetheless, it is truly a lovely 3-D portrait of a very sweet dog.

Don’t forget our free shipping within the USA. All of our items arrive gift-wrapped in our distinctive “houndstooth” paper!
