This gorgeous sterling silver, canine awards medal depicts a beautiful group of both sporting and working breed dog profiles in intricate detail. Above their heads it is engraved: HSTL & ES CANINE SOCIETY. It is a full 1 1/2″ ³ in diameter. This is an exquisite example of French Art Medals produced at the end of the 19th century. The reverse side is blank in the center, with the sterling hallmarks at the bottom center. An olive wreath with gorgeous detailing encircles the back. There is some mild surface scratching on the back, but it does not detract in any significant way from this piece. It would be extraordinary as a necklace on a chain, especially, if it were engraved on the back.
