This rare, Baccarat vase features a hand painted portrait of two hunting dogs. Both dogs appear to be setters, and based on the way they are reacting to the birds flying across the sky in the background, they are bird dogs.
They vase is a cylinder, made of opaline glass, that measures 8″ tall with a diameter at the top of 4 1/2″. The entire vase is completely hand painted from top to bottom with the two dogs, the ground and various forms of grass and foliage. The sky is multi-colored with a gorgeous light blue and both grey and white clouds.
This vase has a metal insert that is secured to the very ornate metal base with a single screw. The insert, the base and the screw all appear to be original to the piece. All together, it measures a full 10 1/2″ tall. It is signed “Baccarat” just below the foliage at the bottom of the painted scene.
The glass vase is in excellent, flawless condition. The metal base has a wonderful bronze patina and is also in excellent condition. The metal insert has some wear, which is expected due to its age and use. However, it is still completely useable, and not damaged in any way.
This vase is a rare treat for those who enjoy a sporting dog decorative, accent piece. It is not only beautiful, but it is also a heavy, well made piece that will certainly add grace and elegance to any room or on any mantle piece it is placed.
