Definition:Hagen-Renaker

Hagen-Renaker is the only specialized manufacturer of “miniature” ceramic animals in the United States, founded in California in 1945. They are famous for their “Designer Workshop” and “Specialty” lines, which produced tiny, hand-painted dogs that pack incredible detail into a one-inch frame. Because of their small size and fragility, finding vintage Hagen-Renaker dogs with their original paper cards is a challenge. They are a favorite for collectors with limited shelf space, as one can display an entire “kennel” of forty different breeds in a single curio cabinet.
