Often touted as the world’s smallest dog with the world’s biggest personality, this vintage Chihuahua looks at you with its unique brand of intelligence and spunk.

The designer of this figurine, Oscar Mortens, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models.
Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.

This Mortens Studio Chihuahua dog measures 3 1/2″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 2″ wide. It is in excellent condition with no visible flaws. That is quite remarkable for a Mortens Studio figurine.

She is a wonderful addition to any Mortens Studio canine collection, and the perfect Chihuahua Lovers gift.
