This Rookwood dog figurine is a beautiful, black Cocker Spaniel. It was done in a deep, dark, glossy black glaze that is just stunning. Measuring 4 1/4″ tall x 3″ long x 2 1/2″ wide, it is in mint condition.

The abundant, flowing fur lines, and long silky-looking ears are so characteristic of the breed. The inquisitive, and slightly sad expression on this wonderful dog’s face, is one that any Cocker Spaniel enthusiast would recognize well.

This Cocker Spaniel is sitting with one paw extended up, as if to offer it for a shake.

It is dated 1950 “L”, and it has “RP” and the shape #7024 clearly impressed on its underside.
