This wonderful Art Deco trinket box was created by NUART of New York City between the late 1920’s through the 1930’s.
It was designed to look like a steamer trunk, or a suitcase, with a Scottish Terrier dog sitting on the removable lid.
The detailing is fabulous, from the belting, the buckles and the nailheads on the suitcase, to the fur lines on the Scottie.dog.
It is one of NUART’s older pieces , measuring 3 3/4″ tall x 3 3/4″ long x 3″ wide. The box (without the lid) is 2″ deep. It is made of cast metal with a bronze finish.
The entire piece is in excellent antique condition, with two small spots where the bronze paint has worn off.
It would be quite useful on a desk to hold stamps, paper clips, etc.
It is quite heavy, so it could also be put to use as a bookend for small books, or as a paperweight.
For Scottie collectors, it is a wonderful Art Deco treasure.
