This wonderful, standing Boston Terrier figurine looks alert and ready to go after what he has fixed his gaze on.
The designer of this Boston Terrier figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models.
Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
Measuring a full 5 1/2″ tall x 7″ long x 2 1/4″ wide, he has a very tiny chip on the tip of one ear, and a very tiny rough spot at the top of the other ear. Both are very hard to see unless you are looking for them. Otherwise, he is in excellent, ready-to-display condition.
