This precious antique sitting English Bulldog pup has an expression that combines puppy “cuteness” with a hint of Bulldog “wisdom.”

The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models.

Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.

This handsome pup is in excellent, flawless condition, with his original foil label, also completely intact. He sits 3 tall x 4″ long x 2″ wide.

Enchanting on his own, this little English Bulldog would also be a wonderful addition to either an English Bulldog collection, or a Mortens Studio Dog collection.
