This truly elegant Borzoi dog figurine is reclining with her head held high and her expression alert.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models.
Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
Measuring a full 7 1/2″ long x 3 1/2″ tall x 4″ wide, she is in nearly perfect condition, with a small chip on the bottom edge of one ear, and a small rough spot along the edge of one front paw.
She is a gorgeous, soft cream and caramel color, well-marked on her underside, and she still has her original foil label.
If you collect Mortens Studio canines, then this is an opportunity to add a “hard-to-find”, terrific example of this particular breed to your collection.Don’t forget our free shipping within the USA.
