Antique Embroidered Chihuahuas Portrait
This exquisite antique portrait of two Chihuahuas was embroidered in 1925, in Germany.
Entitled “Chihuahuas Sitting in a Basket”, it is an embroidered representation of an original pastel painting of the same name.
The needlework is so masterfully done, it is nearly impossible to know whether you are looking at an embroidered portrait, or a painting.
With the frame, the entire piece measures 15 1/2″ tall x 14 1/2″ wide.
The Chihuahuas are very realistic-looking, with an intricate array of fur lines, and liquid, highly expressive eyes.
Even the pink sewing box looks as though it would feel like satin to the touch.
The entire portrait is in flawless condition.
It is framed, under glass, in its original hardwood frame that has two beautiful, gilded borders on it.
This frame is also in excellent condition with some very slight wear at the edge of the corners.
It is signed “P.H.” and dated “25” (1925) at the lower left corner.
This amazing embroidered portrait of two Chihuahuas is a one-of-a-kind treasure for both Chihuahua lovers, and for those who are passionate for antique needlework.
