Vintage Scottish Terrier
Morgan Dennis (1892, October 22, 1960) was an American illustrator now known for his Vintage Scottish Terrier and Westie.
Some would argue he created the most famous set of dogs – the iconic illustration of a Vintage Scottish Terrier and a West highland Terrier.
Morgan Dennis, who was born in Boston, Massachusetts, grew up in Long Island, New York and he studied art with William Harry Warren Bicknell. His most famous work came when he was commissioned by the Black and White Scotch Whiskey Company to illustrate the “Black Scottie and White Westie,” a successful ad campaign used over many years.
One of Morgan’s murals, “The Dog House” , is in the bar and lounge of the Sheraton Russell Hotel in New York. He also competed in art competitions at the 1936 Summer Olympics, but did not win a medal.

This print of two Scottish Terriers was originally produced by Morgan Dennis (1896-1960) for an advertisement for The Black and White Scotch Whiskey Company. It is perfect alone, but it would also be wonderful combined with other Scotties in different mediums: bronze, porcelain, ceramic, glass. Combine it with our Black & White Scotch Water Pitcher for a fabulous gift! Print = 13? long x 9? tall, With Frame = 18 1/2? long x 13 3/4? tall
This striking vintage scottish terrier water pitcher was used as a promotional piece for James Buchannan’s “Black & White” Whisky. Buchannan, who was an animal lover, added the black scottie and the white westie to the label, and it was soon adopted as the brand’s motif. It is still used today, and is regarded as one of the world’s most famous trademarks. This pitcher is in excellent condition, and would make a great bar piece for scottie lovers, westie lovers, and of course, scotch lovers! Holds 3 Cups
